It’s a Daughter Thing
March 19th, 2009The shawl, she is done, blocked, worn, photographed & gorgeous!

I thought the shawl looked pretty good pre-blocking, so was totally blown away by just how amazing it looked after.
Specs:
Vera Crochet Shawl - my own design (pattern to be released shortly)
Started: November 2008
Finished: March 2009
Hook: 4.5mm Aero
Yarn: 1 skein each of Wired for Fibre Elizabeth Merino yarn in Luck, Kismet, Serendipity, Destiny & Fate colourways (full meterage details available on my Ravelry projects page)
Notes: I gave this shawl (unfishished) to my Mum for her birthday, still undecided on a name for it, I eventually settled on Vera for my Grandmother (her mother) who taught me to crochet when I was young, she passed away just over a year ago & I thought it would be a lovely gift from the both of us.
The top peak folds over into a snuggly shawl collar & it is both extreemly light & warm, the pattern is fairly simple & easy to memorize & the colour changes kept it interesting when the stitch count got out of control (I still don’t want to think about how many stitches were in that final row), all in all I’m really pleased with how this turned out.
If you want to see the shawl in person, it’s currently on display at Sunspun

Hoping, Wishing, Wanting, Waiting
January 21st, 2009I’m still working away on the crochet shawl, four colours down, one to go, just 16 more rows & a gazillion ends to weave in, when will I learn to do them as I go?
As much as I’m over this shawl - each row is taking around about an hour to complete at the moment - I’m looking foward to seeing it blocked & in all it’s glory, then I can get onto finishing my Gathered Pullover, which just requires sleeving & maybe even finish the Clapotis I started last June & haven’t looked at in months, then there’s the sock & children’s wrap vest patterns that need test knitting… Looks like my year is planned out already!
(P.S. - If anyone is interested in test knitting a sock, either Small (approx 20.5cm foot circ) or Large (approx 25.5cm foot circ) or a boy’s wrap vest & hat (chest size 50 - 55cm), let me know - yarn will be provided!)
A New Era
January 2nd, 2009Times, they are a changin’ and Live 2 Knit, is no more!
Well technically, it’s still around, just trading under a new name now…
I hope you didn’t all resolve to knit only from stash this year, because to celebrate the launch of Wired for Fibre, and ring in the New Year, I’m having a one week sale - 20% off all stock & 30% off sale items!
P.S. Don’t forget to update your links
Happy Christmas
December 24th, 2008Christmas has come early & I’ve been totally spoiled once again by the amazing Cindy.
Check out the bag, with Live 2 Knit embroidered on the front pocket, not to mention the gorgeous hand embroidered buttons & snuggly mitts, which may come in very handy when I visit in April.
Lucy just couldn’t resist poking her nose in & checking everything out too!
In fact Penny & Lucy weren’t forgotten either, with a squeeky ball & pork chew each from Harki & Peri the golden labradors, they had a great time squeeking, crunching & gnawing last night, in fact Penny loved the squeeky balls so much she gave them her ultimate seal of approval…
Wishing everyone a happy & safe Christmas & New Year!
A bit of Greenery
December 9th, 2008I took two off days off work a couple of weeks ago so I could get the last of my wisdom teeth removed, they came out with minimal fuss & pain, which meant I really could have gone to work on Friday, but, well, I had more important things to do…
I’ve had this idea for a crochet shawl rolling around my mind for a while now & my day off seemed like a rare gift, the chance to sit all day & do nothing but work on my idea.
Even though I’ve not had much time to work on it since, every spare moment finds me adding a few more stitches & before I know it another row has been completed.
The reason I’ve been so busy is that Sunspun has agreed to stock some of my yarns, which is very exciting, but also very nerve wracking. Sunspun is one of the eminent LYS in Melbourne, they stock so many gorgeous yarns, Rowan, Colinette & Debbie Bliss to name a few, so my little yarns have a lot to live up to, but I feel they’re in good company!
Chill Out Tuesday
November 18th, 2008The second release in the Intensity Collection is here & it’s time to chill out with some Blues…
I wasn’t too sure about them as I was trying out a new technique & thought they might be a bit too variegated compared to the first release, I took them with me to the big Melbourne Ravelry meet up at the Botanic Gardens on Sunday where they were quite well received, but still… what do you think?
I’ve been busy adding a whole heap of stock to the store, I’ve got more still waiting to be listed, so if you don’t see what you’re looking for drop me an email, chances are I’ll have some somewhere.
I’ve saved the best for last, the gorgeous Argentum Silk Stole, designed by the lovely & talented Jennie Pakula (she’s a regular contributor to Yarn magazine).
Knit from just 2 skeins of Bette Silk yarn, with enough left over for a matching bag (pattern due to be released shortly, I’m just finishing up the pattern editing at the moment), I just can’t describe how lovely this is, the sheen of the Silk caught in a ray of sunlight transforms it into liquid Silver, just amazing!
October Catch Up
November 2nd, 2008Lucky there’s no Department for Blog Protection, or I’d be in up on serious charges of neglect
So what’s happened since 15th September, hmmm, well, there’s was the first release in the new Intensity Collection of colourways

I started knitting the Gathered Pullover for myself
Sorry for the crappy night photo & note to self, don’t wear a white bra when modelling, not a good look!
I’ve started a photography course on Saturday mornings, so hopefully the photo’s should improve, but since it’s Spring & my garden is putting on a show, despite also being sadly neglected, I thought I would do a bit of practice.
Artfully Inspired
September 15th, 2008The latest release in the Kaleidoscope Collection is inspired by one of my favourite artists - Claude Monet:
Sunflowers
Haystacks
Waterlilies
